Oklahoma Atheists (AOK) mission is to develop a community of individuals and families who value and promote critical thinking, freethought, reason and a scientific worldview - as opposed to the acceptance of faith and dogma - and who seek to have a positive effect on the community at large through fellowship, ethical and rational discussion, community service, and education.
Spanning a wide range (from educational to social), our activities include: dinner meetups, potlucks, family outings, debates, speeches, book clubs, volunteer opportunities, and political events and protests.
We welcome all who share the ideals of critical thinking and who reject religious dogma. In addition to cultivating a community, we wish to contribute to and put a face with all the positive things non-believers and people with a secular viewpoint are doing in the world.
We are a family-friendly organization and provide a welcoming environment for people of all ages. Many of our events also have educational themes, so we can increase our knowledge of the world around us.
Our group's direction is determined by a seven-person leadership committee, which is elected annually. We are continually looking for new ideas, activities and members to enrich our experience.

Hi, I'm Rex and I had an idea that became ProjectOKC several years ago. We started with four people sitting around a table eating pizza and ended up with over 400 volunteers involved in service opportunities all around Oklahoma City. This was a pet project of mine, one for which I drew no income. Actually, I took a part time job and poured countless hours into developing ProjectOKC. I loved it, I breathed it, and it connected me to great people and leaders all over our city. Without ProjectOKC I'd never have met so many great friends and connected with visionary leaders in OKC.
Well, it's time to pull the plug on ProjectOKC as it currently is. Soon, www.ProjectOKC.com will take you to a new website,www.LoveOKC.com.
Why the change? Well, it was time. You see, something happens when you have an entire social network looking at projects. Everyone thinks everyone else will carry the weight. The truth is, that just doesn't happen. So, what I began to see was that as we grew, fewer people volunteered. Oddly, we did get a lot more RSVPs but an RSVP is worthless if the body doesn't show when it's go time. You see, I didn't plan on ProjectOKC growing as quickly as it did. Therefore, there was no infrastructure in place to accommodate new volunteers and accumulate leaders to run new events.My solution? Push the restart button, take a step back, and begin to focus on core leaders that will be able to handle volunteer growth and development. I met with leaders all around OKC bouncing ideas off them and Love OKC is the idea that stuck.What's different? Easy, we're FOCUSED on one project each month. A project in which I'm personally involved. As time goes on other leaders will begin to do ONE project a month, gathering THEIR 20 people to LOVE OKC for five hours. See, sustainable growth with quality volunteer coordinators taking a role in making things happen!We're no longer a faceless organization that acts as a clearing house for volunteer opportunities, it's me, Rex Barrett, asking you to give five hours one time a month. The OKC Reiki Energy Circle meets in Oklahoma City four times each month with a local group of Reiki energy healers and anyone interested in experiencing and learning more about Reiki, essential oils, crystals, other energy work, and other healing modalities. These meetings are for energy working practitioners, novices, and those who are looking for receiving/giving an energy healing experience. Please look at the calendar (under "Meetups") for all our monthly meetings.
The Sat. meeting at 11:00 am is exciting in 2012 because this meeting combines Reiki treatment by Reiki's AND prayer treatment by a ULSC practitioner. If a ULSC practitioner is not available, there will be a 10 minute guided meditation. If you still wish to have a prayer treatment, the participating prayer practitioners and contact numbers have been posted on our bulletin board - just outside the Healing Room. Simply Rawsome promotes adopting healthier habits in eating and lifestyle. In general we do that by encouraging greater consumption of foods that are whole, raw, vegan, and organic: the kind you would find in your garden!
Why these four distinctions?
-Whole, because the more natural and less processed a food is, the better it tends to be for you.
-Raw, because these foods haven't had the beneficial nutrients and digestive enzymes cooked out of them.
-Vegan, because removing animal-derived ingredients (i.e. meat, cheese, milk, eggs, etc.) from your diet, even temporarily, can be very healing.
-Organic, because chemicals, pesticides, and depleted soils do not make a vibrant, healthful foundation for a meal.
We aim for Simply Rawsome to be a very approachable meetup group. It does not matter to us if you are well-versed in raw vegan foods or have never even heard of them before. Darryl Briggs' Glamour Photography Clubs are the largest and most active in both DFW and Texas, recently expanding into Arkansas and Oklahoma. Events are regularly scheduled and include a wide range of events such as photography workshops, club shoots (where the photographers get to decide on sets and lighting), instructional classes, and even social events.
Everyone is welcome whether you are an experienced photographer or if you just received your camera yesterday. Our members are some of the friendliest and most helpful photographers around, and are always willing to share photography information and help newcomers.
We shoot on location, as well as in our well equipped studios. Our principal interest is glamour photography, but you are sure to learn principles that apply to many other forms of photography. Furthermore, we have "sister" clubs that we do all our non-glamour events through.
The main goal of all our photoshoot events is for you to learn and improve your skills, network with other photographers and models, and leave with images that you will be proud to add to your portfolio.
We use professional models as well as professional hair and make-up artists. We have an extensive range of photo equipment for use whether on location or in the studio. When we do shoot in the studio, our studio provides you with many options for backgrounds and special effects.
In short, if you join The Glamour Photography Club of Oklahoma, you'll have the opportunity to create images with some of the most beautiful models in the industry, expand your portfolio, network with others who share your passion for photography, and expand your knowledge of photography. We're a small group of volunteers who love Doxies! There was something missing in Oklahoma City - a Dachshund rescue. So in October 2008 we took in our first homeless dog, and now we continue to take dogs from kill shelters, make sure they are healthy, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered, and find them forever homes! Meet fellow Dachshunds and Dachshund Owners near you! I realized that there are a ton of people looking for a Singles Meetup Group around OKC/Moore/Norman area, but most of the groups out there are either for a much younger crowd or have a specific purpose (wine tasting, for example).
While there is nothing wrong with any of those groups, the simple, relaxed and casual group for people in their 30's, 40's and 50's is nowhere to be found! That is why I came up with SINGLE? ME TOO! Our meetings are very casual, with no prestablished agenda or specific topic to discuss... we just like to hang out and have a good time. Most of us are either new in town or have a bunch of married friends :0) but there is nothing preventing married couples to joing the group!
We meet every 3d Saturday, usually around 7pm. So far, our encounters had been absolutely fantastic! Wanna see for yourself? Go ahead and join the group!

This group consists of a variety of different families with secular lifestyles - some may consider themselves atheists, some agnostics, some secular humanists or naturalists, and many may consider themselves spiritual, but the common thread is that we all are raising our children without organized religion and want them to determine their own beliefs without teaching them any one belief system or dogma.
The main goal for the group is to create a community of like-minded people for families to take part in, similar to what religious people might find in a church setting. It seems that more and more families are choosing to raise their children without organized religion and are finding that they'd like to have that sense of community without compromising their beliefs (or lack thereof). The purpose of this group is to bring together the Pagan and Occult community here in the Oklahoma City Metro so that members can find those of like mind and learn from one another. We do this by hosting social events and classes.
It's open to anyone age 18 and up who is genuinely interested in learning about Magick and the occult. Children are allowed to most meetups as long as they are supervised. Meetings are held at our member's houses, so there is a screening process. All new members must submit their full legal name and date of birth. The main purpose of the Oklahoma City Area Homebirth Meetup group is to provide support and education about home birth and natural birth. Many times women find only opposing opinions and derision when choosing to birth outside the "normal" American way and this is the place to come to find support. This is also the place to come if you are looking for more information on different methods of childbirth. Maybe your previous births didn't go the way you imagined or hoped and you are looking for another way. Maybe you are tired of hearing "at least your baby was healthy" and still feeling like you are missing something. Maybe you have heard all the horror stories your friends tell and want to avoid that from the very beginning and are looking for ideas and information or at least someone who won't think you're crazy for believing that your body knows how to birth without all the interventions.

The School of Metaphysics is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit education and service organization. The main work of our school is our Mastery of Consciousness course of study. The Japan-America Society of OKlahoma is a group of individuals and organizations that promotes Japanese Cultural Awareness and Japanese-American Friendship and Understanding.
A few months ago, you 'accidentally' stumbled on HIM. You
smiled, apologized and before leaving the scene, you asked him if
he knew how to use iPhone's alarm clock. You really needed some
help programming yours, right? (wink)
A few minutes later, you walk away with his phone number and a
big smile on your face.
Of course, you called him the next day to thank him for saving
your life and helping you with such complicated machinery.
He asked you out (YESSSSSS!), and a few dates later (with great
sex and many long phone calls in between) he said that he was
'hooked'. He was impressed by how caring you were. He said that you
were great, the most amazing woman in the entire universe. He said
that you were perfect for him, so different than his ex, such mean,
cruel woman who broke his heart, destroyed his family, took his
money and left him for another guy! You came into his life when he
had lost hope. He felt so lucky for having met you! You were
definitely 'THE ONE'.
And you were in the cloud 9. Finally, a men who were interested
in who you are, not just sex! He was so awesome, handsome,
considered, a gentleman. He had his life together (well, with
exception of a broken heart, which you were determined to mend and
make it happy). His family loved you, you got along with his kids
and you spent hours practicing your new signature (with his last
name, of course)...
You learned to cook his favorite dish; you remodeled your
wardrobe, bought a ton of white shirts, dresses and skirts (his
favorite color). You replaced the red nail polish for a French
manicure (he said that your hands looked great like that). You
surprised him with a romantic card at least once a week, placed
cute notes inside his pockets, bought him expensive gifts for his
birthday, valentines day, Christmas, even fathers day! When he gave
you just a pair of socks on your birthday and completely forgot
about your first anniversary, you didn't say a mean word. You KNEW
that is a guy thing, they never remember those things, right? You
were so kind and understanding! You were perfect!
Moving in together was an easy decision. Why not? Sex is great,
you both love each other, plus you hated your apartment anyways.
Your neighbor was a psycho and you never felt safe over there, all
alone and vulnerable.
But then, with no explanation, he became distant. You were not
sure why. You asked him what was wrong. He said 'nothing'... Then
you doubled your efforts to make him happy. You had a big smile for
him when he got back home from work. You had his favorite TV show
on, a cold beer by the recliner, the lights were dimmed so that he
could relax. You told him every night before going to sleep how
great he was, how happy he made you, how much you loved him and how
grateful you were to have him in your life.
As the weeks went by, he became really moody. He started to work
more hours (he said he was very busy with an important project), he
was really quiet, so not like him! You even thought for a moment
that he had someone else... but after discretely checking his voice
mails, call history and some of his pockets, you dropped that
concern. Maybe he was just under a lot of pressure. So, you did the
most natural thing, you tripled your efforts to make him happy.
A week later, he says that 'he needs space' and that 'this is
not working anymore'. He says that he 'feels
suffocated'.
- What? Why? What happened? But I love you so much! We are so
great together! What is going on?
'Its nothing… It is not you, it is me. I am just not
ready for this, I think we should give each other some space'.
You felt lost, incredibly depressed; you could not imagine your
life without him. You cried, you begged, you bargained. You called
psychics, tarot readers; you hired a numerologist to make your
charts together, so that you could make some sense of what was
going on. You shared with him your discoveries: the Capricorn Moon
was about to form a stabilizing trine with the Sun in steady
Taurus, helping you (and him) to recover from recent disillusioning
Saturn-Neptune quincunx. Jupiter was going back to his Gemini Moon
- things should be okay now, right?
You made an effort to bring your hopes up. You remembered what
you read about the Law of Attraction. You HAD to think positive.
You got a new haircut, went back to wear makeup (so that he would
see how gorgeous you looked cooking his dinner). You spent every
spare second with his kids. You became a master of Twister, you
learned all Hanna Montana songs, and you gave his girls makeup tips
and hung pictures of you surrounded by his children all over the
house.
The more you tried, the worse it got. You didn't know what to
do. You gave up your apartment, you quit your job, you couldn't
just move out! Desperation sets in, and you just want this
nightmare to end.
What did you do wrong?

I started following a podcast called I love Marketing by Dean Jackson and Joe Polish (free from iTunes). This podcast has given me so many great ideas for my business and it was suggested that we start teaching the material to help us further develop our ideas and strategies. So, along with other entrepreneurs around the country, we have decided to start I Love Marketing meetup groups. This group is for you if you own a business, are responsible for marketing a business, if you're an entrepreneur, if you want to be an entrepreneur, or if you just love marketing. My intention is NOT to make this a networking group in the sense that you meet people to sell your services or products to (if that happens naturally, that's OK). This group is meant to exchange ideas and energy to help us all succeed in whatever we do. There will be a specific agenda for each meeting that I will let you know about beforehand. It will help you participate if you listen to the podcast, but you don't have to. Feel free to come check it out if this sounds like something you might benefit from. To begin, there will be no dues or fees for the group. This could change in the future, but for now, we just want to get started. I do ask that you buy at least one drink or food item when you attend to support the place that we meet at. It's a small investment to show our hosts that we appreciate them lending their space.

My husband and I have a 16 year old son with Aspergers. He was diagnosed in 2009. We have been through Doctor's, schools, hospitals, churches, friends, etc. We feel we are finally able to understand what our son was going through now that we have a diagnosis. The reason to start this group was basically, we don't have friends who understand what we go through. We do have very loving friends but would like to meet and be there for each other to exchange ideas.
We are a private, in home studio and this meetup is a relaxed late night life drawing group. We do not instruct, only encourage. Your time with us is what you make it. We just supply the model and the space. Beginning August 24th, all attendees will be given a number, before the session, 1 number will be drawn from the hat--Lucky number holder runs the session/model direction, lighting, time keeping and break taking. You are responsible for bringing your own art supplies/easels are highly recommended. Please RSVP before 9 p.m. the night before/at the very least before 5 p.m. on the day. If 6 RSVPs are not received before 5 that day, the session will be cancelled. Sessions are twice monthly and cost $10.

When you hear the word hypnosis, you may picture the mysterious hypnotist figure popularized in movies, comic books and television. This ominous, goateed man waves a pocket watch back and forth, guiding his subject into a semi-sleep, zombie-like state. Once hypnotized, the subject is compelled to obey, no matter how strange or immoral the request. Muttering "Yes, master," the subject does the hypnotist's evil bidding.
¬This popular representation bears little resemblance to actual hypnotism, of course. In fact, modern understanding of hypnosis contradicts this conception on several key points. Subjects in a hypnotic trance are not slaves to their "masters" -- they have absolute free will. And they're not really in a semi-sleep state -- they're actually hyperattentive.
Wikipedia defines Hypnosis as a mental state (state theory) or set of attitudes and beliefs (non-state theory) usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction, which is commonly composed of a long series of preliminary instructions and suggestions. Hypnotic suggestions may be delivered by a hypnotist in the presence of the subject, or may be self-administered ("self-suggestion" or "autosuggestion").

Sometimes it seems that stay-at-home moms are a dying breed. We love our children, but it's not always the easiest job in the world. We need friendship and support from people who know what it's like. Together we can share the ups and downs, get advice and support, and help each other. At the same time, our children can have social interaction and make friends of their own.
We are a group of stay-at-home moms who get together for weekly playdates. Most of our play dates start at around 10:00 am and occur on various days during the week. We try to have two per week. Our get togethers will consist of outings to the park, zoo, surrounding libraries and museums, and other local places, as well as in house playdates and Mom's Night Outs. We also do occasional family meetups on Saturdays. We have a message board where you can post about things going on with your kids, seek advice, etc.
Members of our group range in age from early 20's to 30's. The primary ages of the kids in our group range from 0-4....but occasionally we are blessed with the company of the older siblings, as well.
We're looking for members who will be ACTIVE in the group and want to be a part of a close-knit group. We require that members attend at least one meetup per month. This maintains the closeness of the group and makes our group thrive.
Before you will be considered for our group, YOU MUST have a profile picture along with a picture of your kids. This is for the safety of our members.
We also require a membership fee of $6.00 every six months. This is to help pay for the use of this website. New members have 30 days to pay their dues. This gives you a chance to try out the group.
We ask that our members not be a member of other moms meetup groups. This just helps to ensure that you will be active in ours.

The OKC Tall Club is part of Tall Clubs International which has over 50 clubs nationwide and connections to other Tall Clubs elsewhere in the world.
The purpose of our club is to unite and organize tall men and women for the purpose of their mutual benefit, to provide opportunities for cultivation of friends and common interests, and to sponsor activities for the promotion of cultural and social improvements.
Men must be at least 6'2" tall and women must be at least 5'10" tall as measured in stocking feet. You must also be at least 21 years of age. We welcome married or single members. If one partner of a couple meets our height requirements, his/her spouse is welcome to join us at any of our social events.
Annual dues are $20 for single members or $25 per married couple. If you are interested in meeting other TALL people, just come see us at one of our events.

I was a part of a Bollywood group in LA and the OC when I lived in California, and miss all the fun we had during Bollywood nights at clubs and meeting together to do all sorts of other things. More than that, OKC just needs more meetups. 'Nough said.
We would like to find other individuals in OKC interested in renting out their homes, apartments, extra rooms, lake homes, train cars, tipis, cave, etc... hostel style to international and regional travellers. A group for parents of kids with Autism, Asperger's, PDD/NOS and other disorders on the spectrum to support one another. The goal is to share ideas, challenges and successes of parenting, and educating kids on the autism spectrum. Parents may also organize activities for kids with autism to meet and play together. This support group is for the support and healing of persons and their families who have been struggling with OCD obsessive compulsive disorder. There are no dues or fees. If you or a family member suffer with OCD you are welcome to attend. The group will offer education, support, and solid recovery tools to help people manage their OCD symptoms and lessen their daily suffering. This is a recoverable illness. There are many successful tools to implement to help you with your ocd and the suffering that entails. If you or a family member suffer with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) We understand your struggles. This group will offer REAL support, compassion and education. The group will have support from experts as well as each other. This meeting will be very protective of members anonymity. There will be closed meetings for people who have OCD only. There will also be open meetings for people with OCD and their family members. We will have experts coming in from different areas of study and education which will share their expertise in OCD recovery, tools, medications and (CBT) cognitive behavioral therapy. Also we will discuss exposure therapy and mindfulness techniques all of which have been extremely successful in treating obsessive compulsive disorder.
